Job Description

Express Employment Professionals in Mesa is seeking skilled Structural Ironworkers to support commercial and industrial construction projects. This is a field-based role focused on erecting, placing, aligning, and securing structural and reinforcing steel components in accordance with blueprints and job specifications.

While steel is the primary material, ironworkers may also assist with metal decking, precast components, and rehabilitation or demolition work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job instructions

• Unload, stack, and prepare prefabricated iron and steel for crane lifting

• Signal crane operators during lifting and placement of materials

• Cut, bend, and weld structural and reinforcing steel using:

  • Shears

  • Rod-bending machines

  • Torches

  • Hand tools

  • Welding equipment (MIG welding preferred)

• Align structural and reinforcing steel vertically and horizontally using tag lines, plumb bobs, lasers, and levels

• Connect iron and steel components using bolts, wire, or welds

• Install metal decking used in building construction

• Assist with erection of structural frameworks, precut metal buildings, and jobsite equipment

• Support demolition, decommissioning, or rehabilitation of existing structures when required

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Structural Ironworker or Ironworker Erector

• Welding experience required; MIG welding strongly preferred

• Ability to work at heights and in outdoor jobsite conditions

• Familiarity with structural steel erection and construction safety standards

• Valid Driver’s License is a plus

• Reliable transportation and strong attendance

Schedule & Work Environment

• Early morning start: 4:00 AM

• Four 10-hour shifts, Monday–Thursday

• Optional Friday overtime depending on project needs

• Active construction sites in the Mesa and surrounding areas
