Local fishing line manufacturing company looking for Braid Room Operator! 

 

5th Shift

Tuesday - Friday

5am - 5:45pm 

$15.50/hr

 

Job Summary
The Braid Room Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of various braid machines to produce high-quality braided line that meets manufacturing specifications. This position requires mechanical awareness, visual precision, and a commitment to standard work procedures. Operators are expected to progress in skill level by demonstrating consistency, accuracy, and problem-solving across machine types and fiber setups.


Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate braid machines of all types according to SOPs and specifications.
Identify, isolate, and report nonconforming (NC) braid issues.
Recognize and report machine malfunctions or unsafe conditions, tagging equipment for repair as needed.
Perform audits and maintain production rates
Execute material handling processes.
Maintain organized work carts and comply with 5S expectations.
Doff spools, print and apply correct labels, and deliver material to proper locations.
Accurately identify fiber types, yarns, or bobbins with mismarked material and isolate them.
Perform changeovers and support basic machine troubleshooting to maximize uptime.
Train peers once qualified and assist with compliance monitoring in SOP and safety practices.
Other duties according to department needs.

Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable operating various machines with minimal supervision.
Visual Precision: Able to detect NC braid, fiber inconsistencies, and line abnormalities.
Attention to Detail: Accurate label printing, tagging, and documentation of material flow.
Speed & Accuracy: Setup performance with consistent machine operability.
Communication: Effectively report safety or mechanical concerns and coordinate with leads and co-workers.
Training & Peer Support: Ability to train new employees after demonstrating mastery of machines and materials.
Safety Compliance: Apply LOTO and PPE procedures; participate in audits and safety meetings.
Documentation: Maintain legible and timely logs, reports, and labeling required for tracking.

Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
