Director, Information Technology (Contract to Permanent Opportunity)
Location: Fort Myers, FL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Type: Long-term contract with opportunity to become permanent


Job Summary

A local school in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Director of Information Technology to lead and manage IT infrastructure and daily technology operations supporting academic and administrative functions. This role will drive strategic IT planning, network and server reliability, cybersecurity initiatives, vendor partnerships, compliance, and internal IT team leadership. The ideal candidate is solutions-focused, operationally strong, and passionate about supporting technology in an educational environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all IT infrastructure including networks, servers, communications, storage, and data systems

  • Manage daily IT operations, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues

  • Lead long-term IT strategy, annual infrastructure roadmap, and technology refresh planning

  • Maintain and execute disaster recovery and business continuity plans

  • Collaborate with school leadership and stakeholders to prioritize IT resources, governance, budget, and technical improvements

  • Manage IT vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure service expectations and SLAs are met

  • Implement and maintain strong security measures to protect systems and data

  • Ensure compliance with school, state, and federal IT policies and regulations

  • Coach, mentor, and develop IT staff while fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment

  • Support IT planning, policy development, and technology standards adoption


Minimum Qualifications

  • 12 years of directly related full-time IT infrastructure experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field + 8 years of directly related IT experience

  • 5+ years of supervisory or IT management experience including hiring, coaching, conflict resolution, and budget oversight

  • Hands-on expertise in networking and server administration

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Any combination of relevant education, experience, and certifications will be considered


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related specialization

  • Experience expanding or managing IT infrastructure in educational environments

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

  • IT project management experience supporting new system implementations or infrastructure improvements

  • Certifications such as ITIL, CSM (ScrumMaster), PMP, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect
