Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Preparer to prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, business, S corporations and trusts. This role involves gathering financial information, applying appropriate tax laws, deductions, and credits, and providing guidance to ensure accurate filings.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare simple to complex tax returns for individuals, small businesses, corporations and trusts
• Compute taxes owed or overpaid using Lacerte tax software and standard tax tables
• Apply all appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to minimize tax liability
• Review financial records such as income statements, expense documentation, and supporting schedules
• Verify accuracy of data input and totals on tax forms prepared by self or others
• Explain federal and state tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements to clients
• Consult tax law handbooks, bulletins, and updates for atypical or complex returns
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all applicable regulations

Detailed Work Activities

• Calculate and analyze tax information
• Examine and verify financial records for accuracy
• Correspond with clients to resolve questions or concerns
• Explain policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements clearly
• Stay current on tax law changes and best practices

Qualifications

• Prior experience preparing individual and/or small business tax returns
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws
• Proficiency with Lacerte tax preparation software preferred
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Office-based position
• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
