Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all plant and warehouse equipment in safe, efficient operating condition. This role supports continuous operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating with contractors, and responding to facility needs, including off-hours emergencies. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, food plant experience, and a proactive approach to maximizing facility uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain all plant and warehouse equipment in safe, efficient operating condition
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize facility uptime
  • Oversee and support maintenance activities across the facility
  • Ensure compliance with master sanitation plans, cGMPs, and HACCP policies
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of food plant sanitation methods, materials, and documentation
  • Quickly and effectively troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related issues
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors
  • Manage maintenance schedules and support capital improvement projects
  • Respond to off-hours facility needs with minimal notice when required
  • Operate forklifts after completing required certification
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and contractors
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office tools

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 3+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using maintenance management systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs
  • Ability to perform ladder work at heights of 10–50 feet
  • Extended walking throughout plant and warehouse facilities
  • Standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling approximately 80% of the shift
  • Office/administrative work approximately 20% of the shift
  • Exposure to dust, temperature extremes, and industrial environments
  • Required use of appropriate PPE at all times
