Project Engineer
Location: Guelph, ON

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Project Engineer, for a well-established auto component manufacturer. Desired candidate will be working in a team environment providing support on production and implementation of existing and new programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product launches and drive APQP meetings to track project status, identify risks, and manage corrective actions
- Develop and manage realistic project timelines using Gantt charts and APQP open-issue tracking
- Prepare and present project status reports to management, highlighting launch risks and mitigation plans
- Participate in the design, procurement, and implementation of fixtures, tooling, and production equipment
- Provide technical support for manufacturing equipment and processes, including presses, lasers, cameras, and auxiliary systems
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts
- Work closely with Quality to develop and maintain control plans, process flows, and PFMEAs
- Evaluate process capability and implement corrective action plans for low capability conditions
- Lead continuous improvement activities on new and existing programs
- Support cell and work-area layouts to ensure efficient material and process flow
- Develop, maintain, and improve internal engineering standards and methods
Additional Responsibilities
- Define tooling requirements for new programs and prototype builds
- Train setup technicians, supervisors, and lead hands on new and existing processes
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop and test new tooling solutions
- Provide leadership to build employee skill, engagement, and technical knowledge
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly departmental reports as required
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Three to five years of related experience, preferably in a high-volume CNC manufacturing environment.
- Advanced understanding of APQP, PPAP requirements.
- Ability to collect data and develop statistics to understand machine repeatability and capability
- Understanding of measuring tools and methods with emphasis on CMM checking methodology
- Previous experience in machine processes, cutting tools, fixtures, CNC and Special purpose machines
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks, blueprints, APQP, PPAP (advanced production quality/planning and scheduling software), micrometers, calipers etc.
- A university degree in engineering or equivalent experience working as a process or manufacturing engineer with a technical diploma or college certificate in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
- Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional technicians / engineers as an asset
