Location: On-site (Mississauga)
Reports To: VP of Engineering

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $130,000 per year
  • Bonus: Performance-based

About the Opportunity

Our client is a North American leader in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of solar PV mounting and racking systems. They support large-scale renewable energy projects by delivering engineered, site-specific solutions that meet stringent regulatory and performance requirements.

 

As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Manager of Engineering to provide technical and people leadership across all engineering functions supporting solar PV mounting systems. This role plays a critical part in guiding engineering execution from early design through fabrication and production release while supporting long-term product and organizational growth.

 

Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Engineering is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and ensuring engineering excellence across solar PV mounting and racking solutions. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this role oversees the full engineering lifecycle, ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards, and drives continuous improvement across products, processes, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams supporting solar PV mounting systems
  • Ensure adherence to established engineering processes, quality standards, and best practices
  • Promote a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement

Technical Oversight & Design Excellence

  • Oversee structural calculations, engineering analyses, and FEA-based assessments
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (CSA, UL, IBC/ASCE, local AHJs)
  • Act as a subject matter expert in solar PV mounting systems and structural design
  • Review and approve engineering documentation prior to release for manufacturing

Project & Lifecycle Management

  • Manage the full engineering lifecycle from proposal and detailed design through production release
  • Define project scope, risks, milestones, budgets, and schedules
  • Maintain accurate project tracking and reporting

CAD, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Oversee CAD drawings and layout packages for proposals and construction plan sets
  • Coordinate engineering releases to manufacturing and production teams
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain on production planning and vendor coordination

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, and Manufacturing to support client requirements
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Support constructability reviews and installation methodology discussions

Compliance, Quality & Safety

  • Coordinate with third-party testing and certification bodies as required
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and internal engineering standards
  • Promote and enforce health and safety policies

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Contribution

  • Identify opportunities to improve product design, engineering processes, and execution efficiency
  • Support long-term product roadmap and innovation initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada (Ontario preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Experience with solar PV mounting systems, structural steel systems, or engineered construction products
  • Strong background in structural analysis and FEA-based design
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards (CAS, UL, IBC/ASCE, local AHJs)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred / Assets

  • Experience in manufacturing-driven or product-based engineering environments
  • Familiarity with CAD platforms (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with third-party testing and certification agencies
  • Exposure to both Canadian and U.S. solar markets
