Manual Machinist 2 – $24–$30/hr | Mt. Angel, OR | Swing Shift

Location: Mt. Angel, OR
Pay: $24–$30 per hour, DOE
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (Swing Shift)

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist 2 for a growing manufacturing company in Mt. Angel, Oregon. This position is ideal for skilled machinists who can independently set up, operate, and maintain manual lathes and mills while producing precision metal parts. The role requires advanced technical skills and emerging leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently produce metal parts using manual lathes and mills

  • Set up and change tooling to meet production requirements

  • Monitor machine fluids and perform basic machine maintenance

  • Measure and inspect parts using precision tools such as calipers and micrometers

  • Complete all required project documentation accurately

  • Assist in training new employees as needed

  • Operate a forklift safely and follow company protocols

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including steel-toed boots and safety glasses

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Vocational or technical training in Machining, Precision Manufacturing, or related trade preferred

  • Forklift certification or OSHA 10/30 preferred

  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation

  • Skilled with precision measuring tools and manual machining techniques

  • Solid understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a manual machinist

  • Proven ability to set up and operate manual lathes and mills independently

  • Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings

  • Familiarity with machining a variety of metals, including steel and aluminum

  • Exposure to quality control processes and documentation

  • Experience mentoring or training entry-level machinists preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or sit for extended periods (7+ hours per day)

  • Lift or carry up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.

  • Work primarily indoors in a moderately loud manufacturing environment
