Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is hiring an experienced MIG / TIG Welder for a fabrication and manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, skilled trade role requiring advanced welding knowledge, fabrication experience, and strong attention to quality and safety.

We are seeking a versatile welder who understands the differences between MIG and TIG welding — including TIG’s need for precise coordination (two hands and one foot) and MIG’s efficiency for thicker materials — and can apply the correct method to produce strong, clean, and consistent welds.

Responsibilities

As a Skilled MIG / TIG Welder, your responsibilities will include:

Performing MIG and TIG welding on various metals and thicknesses.
Using Stick welding when required (preferred).
Fabricating metal components from raw materials based on blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols.
Selecting appropriate welding techniques, filler materials, shielding gases, and machine settings.
Demonstrating strong manual dexterity, especially during TIG welding operations.
Understanding metal properties (steel, stainless, aluminum, etc.) and how heat affects material integrity.
Preparing materials through cutting, grinding, beveling, and cleaning prior to welding.
Performing quality inspections to ensure weld penetration, strength, alignment, and appearance meet specifications.
Conducting safety checks and following proper welding safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Troubleshooting weld defects such as porosity, warping, lack of fusion, or cracking.
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements

Proven experience in MIG and TIG welding (required).
Ability to fabricate and assemble components independently.
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols.
Strong understanding of metal properties and welding processes.
Stick welding experience a plus.
Welding certifications preferred (AWS or equivalent), especially for TIG welding.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical fabrication work.
Reliable attendance and consistent work history with strong tenure.
Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.

Skills & Qualifications

Advanced MIG/TIG welding proficiency.
High level of precision and manual coordination.
Strong fabrication and fitting skills.
Knowledge of weld inspection standards and quality requirements.
Experience using fabrication tools (grinders, saws, clamps, fixtures).
Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.

Shifts & Hours

Full-time schedule
1st and/or 2nd shift opportunities depending on facility needs
Overtime may be available based on workload
