Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter / Project Supervisor for a short-term assignment at a government facility. This role combines limited hands-on carpentry work with on-site supervision of subcontractors, including HVAC and electrical trades.

The position is ideal for an experienced or semi-retired carpenter/contractor who wants to stay active without heavy physical labor, or for a carpenter with prior experience overseeing subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial carpentry work, including adhering/installing bullnose counters (estimated to take approximately one day).

  • Serve as on-site supervisor for subcontractors (HVAC and Electrical) for several days following the carpentry work.

  • Oversee daily progress, ensuring work is proceeding as scheduled and in a professional manner.

  • Take daily notes and photos documenting completed work.

  • Submit daily progress updates (notes and photos) to the project team at the end of each day.

  • Be available to answer basic questions from subcontractors and coordinate as needed.

  • Optional: Assist subcontractors if desired (not required; subs will have their own assistants).

Qualifications

  • Experience as a carpenter, preferably with finish work such as counters or trim.

  • Prior experience supervising subcontractors or managing job sites is strongly preferred.

  • Basic understanding of HVAC and electrical trades (no hands-on work required).

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to document work clearly using photos and written notes.

  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently on-site.

  • Comfortable working in a government facility environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Light to moderate physical activity during initial carpentry work.

  • Minimal physical labor during the supervisory phase of the project.

Why This Role Is a Good Fit

  • Short-term commitment (4–6 business days).

  • Limited physical labor after the initial carpentry task.

  • Ideal for experienced tradespeople looking for a lighter workload while staying engaged in construction projects.
