Pay Rate: $19.00 Per Hour
Work Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm (over time when needed)
MUST BE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH
MUST HAVE GOOD COMPUTER AND DATA ENTRY SKILLS
Position Interactions: Internally works with Office Staff and Warehouse Staff. Externally interacts with truck drivers and carriers.
Position Summary: The Dock Coordinator is responsible for managing inbound and outbound dock activities, including logging drivers in and out, checking and applying trailer/container seals, allocating staging areas and doors, and coordinating with warehouse and office staff. This role ensures dock operations run smoothly, loads are allocated and processed on time, and documentation is accurate to support efficient warehouse operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Dock Management & Scheduling
- Log truck drivers in and out of the facility, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Allocate staging areas and dock doors to trucks, ensuring all areas are assigned by required deadlines.
- Maintain an accurate daily and next-day schedule, posting updates by required cut-off times.
- Notify carriers and team members of no-shows, unscheduled arrivals, or pending shipments.
- In some facilities, schedule deliveries and pickups and communicate with dispatchers via phone/email.
Seal Accuracy & Process Compliance
- Check trailer/container seals against bills of lading; break and apply seals as required.
- Ensure seal accuracy for both shipping and receiving processes.
- Maintain compliance with company Food Safety policies and audit requirements.
- Track and document any discrepancies, mis-shipments, or non-compliance issues.
Verification & Documentation
- Double-check trailer photos, pallet IDs, and BOL/inspection sheets against operator input to ensure shipping accuracy.
- Maintain dock office visitor logs, signing in/out all facility visitors.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving paperwork with office staff, updating customer reports where required.
- May receive, count, and log payments from carriers as needed.
Safety & Team Collaboration
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized dock office environment.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff and supervisors to align dock activities with operational needs.
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented atmosphere with professional and courteous communication.
- Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing errors and improving dock throughput.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Have a collaborative approach to working with others.
- Good understanding of customer service and the impact of failure / cost of poor service.
- Ability to accurately and clearly communicate with drivers, managers, and co-workers. English is required, bilingual ability is a plus.
- Computer and email experience. Will be trained on scheduling software.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Basic math skills.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to go outside in all climates and temperatures to seal / break seals on trailers.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, navigate stairs and use bolt cutters and wire cutters to break trailer seals.
- Able to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to temperature swings, noise, dust, heavy forklift/truck/pedestrian traffic.
