About the Role
The Production Supervisor is a front-line leadership position responsible for leading and overseeing assembly personnel across all product lines during their assigned shift. This role splits time between the manufacturing floor and office environment, managing production schedules, overseeing reporting activities, and ensuring operational excellence.
The Production Supervisor ensures a safe and compliant production environment by conducting safety training, inspections, and incident investigations. This role is also responsible for onboarding and training new employees, ensuring all required training is completed and documented.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical assembly, a solid understanding of production best practices, and the ability to drive performance through people, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Supervisor supports manufacturing operations by maintaining accurate production records, preparing daily activity reports, completing employee evaluations, and cascading goals aligned with company objectives.
This role collaborates closely with production planners, manufacturing engineers, quality, and leadership teams to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges, enhance productivity, and ensure adherence to production schedules.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide front-line leadership by mentoring, coaching, and developing employees to enhance skills, accountability, and teamwork
- Monitor departmental processes and production rates to ensure optimal quality, efficiency, and output
- Take corrective action as needed to address quality, safety, or productivity issues
- Attend production meetings and lead daily stand-up meetings
- Identify production constraints and opportunities for productivity improvement
- Implement initiatives that support company objectives, including Kaizen events, Continuous Improvement (CI), and Just Do It (JDI) activities
- Encourage and engage team members in continuous improvement efforts
- Assess, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative performance metrics to determine current and future state
- Communicate production issues effectively with management, production planning, quality, and supervisory teams
- Develop and execute action plans to alleviate constraints and deliver world-class service
- Monitor workplace safety to prevent injuries and accidents
- Conduct regular safety inspections using established checklists and reporting tools
- Investigate incidents and accidents, complete required reports, notify the facility safety coordinator, and recommend improvements to safety safeguards
About You
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- 5–7 years of manufacturing experience required
- 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong technical background with the ability to manage and develop production departments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and foster a positive team environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- High level of knowledge and understanding of quality systems and business systems
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality
- Ability to sit or stand intermittently for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to bend, twist, push, pull, and lift products up to 50 lbs unassisted; items over 50 lbs with assistance
