We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Specialist to join our client in Napa. This role is responsible for preparing accurate tax returns, supporting clients with tax-related questions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate is analytical, client-focused, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns with accuracy and efficiency
• Review financial records, receipts, and documentation to ensure completeness
• Research tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for clients
• Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify questions, and provide updates
• Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and strategies to minimize tax liability
• Assist with tax planning throughout the year
• Maintain organized and confidential client files
• Respond to IRS or state notices and assist with audits as needed
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow during peak seasons

Qualifications

Experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations
• Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, TaxSlayer)
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Strong communication and customer service abilities
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
• CPA, EA, or tax certification preferred but not required (depending on client needs)
