Job Title: Commercial Plumbing Project Estimator

 

Position Summary:
The Commercial Plumbing Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically sound cost estimates for commercial and institutional plumbing projects. This role supports business development and project execution by managing the full bid lifecycle—from document review and takeoffs through proposal submission and project handoff—while ensuring scopes, costs, and risks are clearly de?ned prior to contract award.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze bid documents, including architectural and MEP drawings, speci?cations, addenda, and owner requirements.
• Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment takeoffs for commercial plumbing systems using digital estimating software.
• Prepare complete and accurate estimates, budgets, and formal bid proposals.
• Manage the full bid cycle, including attending pre-bid meetings, tracking deadlines, and submitting proposals on time.
• Solicit, analyze, and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and specialty equipment providers.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, exclusions, clari?cations, and constructability concerns.
• Develop value-engineering alternatives that improve efficiency or reduce cost without compromising quality.
• Coordinate with project managers, ?eld leadership, and executives during bid reviews.
• Maintain historical cost data and assist with post-bid reviews and job cost comparisons.
• Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, local jurisdiction requirements, and company standards.
• Support the preconstruction-to-operations handoff by providing clear scope, budget, and labor assumptions after project award.

 

Required Quali?cations:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating commercial plumbing projects or related project management experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, including sanitary, domestic water, natural and LP gas piping, and ?xtures.
• Pro?ciency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Trimble, Procore, STACK, etc.)
• Strong general computer navigation skills, including pro?ciency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to read, interpret, and visualize construction drawings and speci?cations.
