Controller – Construction & Multi-Entity Operations

Account Office Manager

Arnaudville, LA | Full-Time | 25+/Hr. DOE

 


We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for a heavy highway and construction company with multiple related entities. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting construction, materials, fuel operations, real estate holdings, and a nonprofit organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting functions across multiple entities

  • Manage AP/AR, general ledger, banking, and month-end close

  • Set up and manage jobs and job cost accounting in QuickBooks

  • Invoice construction jobs and manage collections

  • Perform bank reconciliations for multiple companies

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports

  • Handle sales tax filings, insurance audits, and COIs

  • Manage trucking compliance (IFTA, IRP, Form 2290)

  • Process W-2s, 1099s, and coordinate year-end reporting

  • Oversee asset purchases, depreciation, and disposals

  • Maintain intercompany accounting and reconciliations

  • Supervise and support two office employees


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5+ years of accounting experience (construction/heavy highway preferred)

  • Strong job cost accounting and multi-entity experience

  • Knowledge of trucking and fuel tax compliance

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel

  • Prior supervisory experience

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
