CNC Programmer/Sheet Metal Specialist

Salary: $25/hr-$30/hr

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer on behalf of a long‑standing precision manufacturer in Frederick, MD. Our client supports a wide range of industries and is known for exceptional quality standards and comprehensive in‑house capabilities, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, grinding, conversion coating, painting, powder coating, screen printing, and assembly.
This is a great opportunity for a skilled professional who enjoys both programming and hands‑on fabrication work in a high‑precision environment.

About the Role
You will program aluminum and stainless‑steel components ranging from simple brackets to complex welded chassis with tight tolerances. When programming work is caught up, you will support production by operating CNC punches, a CO₂ laser, or a press brake. This role offers variety, challenge, and the chance to work with a highly skilled team.

Key Responsibilities
•     Create CNC programs for Amada punches and a CO₂ laser using customer‑supplied solid models.
•     Build solid models when customer files are not available.
•     Compare solid models to engineering drawings to ensure accuracy.
•     Identify discrepancies between standard sheet metal practices and customer requirements; propose solutions when needed.
•     Collaborate closely with shop floor mechanics to meet customer expectations and deadlines.
•     Operate CNC punches, press brakes, or laser equipment when programming tasks are complete.

Qualifications
•     Proficiency in SolidWorks (2014 or later) with minimal supervision.
•     Prior experience setting up and operating CNC punches and press brakes.
•     Experience with Amada AP100 is a plus but not required.
•     CO₂ laser operating experience is an asset.
•     Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
•     Understanding of MIL specs and GD&T.
•     Ability to create solid models independently when needed.
•     Comfortable working with tight tolerances of +/– .005” to +/– .010” on sheet metal parts.
•     Fluent English communication skills.
•     Reliable transportation.
