Job Overview: The Warehouse Lead is responsible for managing the daily operations of the 
warehouse and leading a team of warehouse personnel to ensure smooth operations. Further, the 
Warehouse Lead is responsible for managing inventory, optimizing storage space and 
organization, coordinating logistics and shipping (including hazardous material shipments), 
maintaining safety standards, and ensuring that safe practices are adhered to.
Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Strategic Planning: Collaborate and communicate with the Branch Manager to align 
warehouse operations with organizational goals and to optimize workflow and improve 
overall efficiency and fast order pull times. 
2. Operational Leadership: Provide strong leadership and training to warehouse staff while 
fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. 
a. Provide coaching and positive reinforcement while training, educating, and 
correcting errors. 
b. Delegate responsibilities to warehouse staff while ensuring a well-organized and 
motivated team and maintaining accountability, timeliness, and accuracy. 
 Ensure that each warehouse team member has a defined daily, weekly, and 
monthly task list and set daily goals for each team member that align with the 
operational vision and strategies set by the Branch Manager. 
 Provide feedback to the Branch Manager for use in organizing shift 
schedules and break times for warehouse staff and drivers. 
 Ensure that warehouse team member’s time is being optimized to reach 
maximum output and efficiency. 
c. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to perform any necessary disciplinary action 
and provide feedback to the Branch Manager regarding performance. 
3. Logistics Coordination: Coordinate timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. 
a. Route, schedule, and dispatch local deliveries and pick-ups that have been 
approved by the Branch Manager in a way that maximizes fuel efficiency and 
minimizes costs while ensuring that customers receive timely deliveries. 
 Communicate the delivery and pick-up schedule to the Customer Service 
team so that they can provide effective communication to customers. 
b. Utilize third party transportation providers when needed, ensuring that all 
outbound shipments are palleted or packaged correctly and are ready to be picked 
up when the third-party provider arrives. 
c. Supervise the picking, wrapping, protection, and loading of outgoing transfer 
orders and double check all incoming and outgoing transfer orders to ensure the 
accuracy and quality of transfers. 
d. Maintain accurate logs of deliveries and material arrivals

4. Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT): Ensure that all hazardous materials are properly 
packaged, classified, and identified according to regulatory standards. 
a. Stay up to date with knowledge of regulatory standards outlined by the Department 
of Transportation (DOT) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) 
and provide regular updates and training for warehouse staff to ensure that any 
personnel involved in the handling of HAZMAT materials understand the specific 
hazards of each material and the proper procedures for safe handling. 
b. Utilize approved packaging materials and complete all required documentation for 
HAZMAT shipments including shipping papers, labels, and markings, which 
accurately reflect the contents, quantity, and hazard class of the materials. 
5. Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe 
working environment. 
a. Conduct regular safety training sessions for warehouse staff to promote a culture 
of safety awareness. 
b. Maintain an up-to-date emergency response plan that includes procedures for 
addressing spills or leaks involving hazardous materials, industrial fires, forklift 
injuries, or other emergencies and conduct regular drills. 
c. Safeguard employees by monitoring and ensuring adherence to safety guidelines 
and report any non-compliance and/or potential safety hazards to the Branch 
Manager immediately. 
d. Ensure that all required safety and compliance posters and notices are posted in a 
visible and conspicuous area and that all staff is aware of the posting location. 
e. Perform and maintain forklift certifications for warehouse staff and drivers. 
f. Maintain accurate vehicle logs and track and organize vehicle maintenance. 
6. Inventory Management: Ensure accurate receipt, counts, and storage of materials. 
a. Conduct regular cycle counts to track inventory levels and notify the Branch 
Manager when key inventory items appear to have low stock. 
b. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to organize and prepare for the mandatory 
end of year inventory count. 
c. Maintain internal inventory and keep a well-supplied stock of all necessary 
warehouse equipment, PPE, and shipping materials. 
7. Quality Assurance: Enforce quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, condition, 
and viability of all incoming and outgoing goods. 
a. Ensure regular inventory rotation to maintain the first-in, first-out (FIFO) stock 
rotation principle to ensure that the first items added to inventory are the first items 
to be sold or used. 
b. Communicate with the Branch Manager regarding any refused or damaged 
shipments.
