About the Role
The Incoming Quality Inspector Level I is responsible for inspecting manufactured and purchased parts to ensure they meet quality standards before entering inventory. You will perform visual and mechanical inspections, identify non-conformances, and support continuous improvement in product quality, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Quality Control
- Inspect incoming parts, components, and assemblies for compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Perform detailed visual and mechanical inspections using tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, and height gauges.
- Initiate and document non-conformance reports for items that do not meet quality standards.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of the inventory and inspection system.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with inventory, production, and quality teams to maintain efficient workflow.
- Support cross-functional communication to optimize delivery timelines and production throughput.
- Participate in daily team huddles and maintain a clean, safe, respectful workspace.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to processes that enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Follow established procedures and contribute to documentation updates as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; post-secondary coursework in Mechanical Inspection or machining is an asset.
- 1–2 years of experience inspecting machined or manufactured parts is preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, inventory control, or vendor coordination is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, including GD&T.
- Knowledge of inspection tools: micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge blocks, and similar equipment.
- Comfortable performing detailed visual inspections and working with batch sampling processes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work around tight deadlines.
