Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate

Department: Plant / Manufacturing
Reports To: Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Supervisor
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Range: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for lifting, transporting, storing, and loading materials and products using cranes, hoists, and forklifts. This role supports the accurate processing of incoming and outgoing shipments and ensures materials are handled, documented, and stored in accordance with established procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the position; additional duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing identifying information, counts, weights, and measurements against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, or other records.

  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.

  • Direct the movement of materials from shipping and receiving areas to storage or production work areas.

  • Prepare bills of lading and other required shipping documentation.

  • Affix shipping labels or mark cartons with identifying shipping information.

  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select appropriate pre-assembled containers.

  • Pack materials and products securely into containers.

  • Coordinate with supervisors and other departments to ensure efficient flow of materials and products.

  • Review inventory and shipping records for accuracy, procedural compliance, and adequate stock levels.

  • Requisition containers, packaging materials, and other supplies for delivery to workstations.

  • Prepare and verify records such as routing slips, material requisitions, and job orders.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; or

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training; or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of MRP systems

  • Proficiency with email, spreadsheet, and word processing software

  • Ability to navigate electronic databases and perform accurate data entry

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
