Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Range: $18.50 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary

The Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating mechanical and hydraulic power presses to bend, form, stretch, straighten, punch, and blank metal materials. This position works with metal plates, extrusions, sheet metal, structural shapes, and forgings to produce parts that meet quality and production requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the position; other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Plan and sequence press operations according to job requirements.

• Measure and visually align workpieces to mark reference lines.

• Select, install, align, and secure flat, V-block, radius, or special-purpose die sets into the ram and bed of the press.

• Set depth, stroke, and pressure of the press using handwheels, levers, or control switches.

• Lift and position workpieces accurately between dies.

• Operate presses to bend, straighten, punch, or form metal components.

• Reposition workpieces and change dies for multiple or successive passes.

• Perform hand forming and finishing operations as required.

• Remove burrs and sharp edges using grinding tools.

• Inspect finished parts and mark job numbers as required.

• Bend or straighten cold metal materials.

• Set dies to punch and blank heavy metal.

• Operate presses with multiple rams to bend angles, flanges, or radii through successive passes.

• Operate multi-action hydraulic presses for deep draw, progressive, and reverse draw sheet metal operations.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED; or

• One to three years of related experience and/or training; or

• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
