Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Manager to oversee all aspects of print production for a fast-paced printing operation. This role is responsible for managing the entire printing process—from planning and scheduling through execution and delivery—ensuring high-quality, cost-effective products are completed on time.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise in printing equipment and software, and the ability to manage teams, workflows, vendors, and budgets while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage print projects from concept to final delivery, including scheduling staff and resources

• Set up, operate, and monitor printing equipment (digital printers, plotters, flatbed printers, etc.)

• Ensure quality control by inspecting printed materials, adjusting equipment settings, and performing regular checks throughout production runs

• Prepare machines for production by selecting and loading appropriate materials

• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal efficiency

• Manage materials including vinyl, ink, and consumables; maintain inventory and proper storage

• Troubleshoot technical issues during production and coordinate repairs when necessary

• Maintain detailed documentation of job specifications, timelines, and production issues

• Enforce safety guidelines and maintain a clean, safe work environment

• Collaborate closely with supervisors, designers, and production staff to meet deadlines and job specifications

• Assist with post-production processes including trimming, laminating, and preparing vinyl for delivery, distribution, or installation

Qualifications & Required Skills

• Strong technical knowledge of printing methods (digital, flatbed, plotter, etc.)

• Proven ability to operate and maintain print production equipment

• High attention to detail with a commitment to quality standards

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and operate machinery safely

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Post-secondary education in print technology or a related field is a plus

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a print shop or related industry preferred

• Training in print operation and machine maintenance may be provided

Work Environment & Expectations

• Printing facility / print shop environment

• Exposure to noise, chemicals, and heavy machinery

• Requires standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials

• Use of personal protective equipment as required
