The Specialized Recruiting Group of Olympia is partnering with a locally owned, family-run organization to find their next Director of Human Resources & Administration. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity based in Olympia, WA, with a salary range of $85,000 – $90,000 DOE.
The Director of Human Resources & Administration is responsible for leading all human resources functions while also providing executive-level administrative support and overseeing office operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats, supporting leadership, and helping shape company culture within a close-knit organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources
-
Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding
-
Partner with supervisors on performance management, employee relations, coaching, and corrective actions
-
Administer employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, and leave plans
-
Supervise and hire clerical and accounting staff
-
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
-
Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, job descriptions, and the employee handbook
-
Coordinate staff training, professional development, and engagement initiatives
-
Manage payroll processing in collaboration with Finance/Accounting
-
Conduct new employee orientations and develop proactive training programs
-
Lead employee communications, meetings, and engagement activities to foster a strong company culture
-
Manage and track the sales bonus program
Executive Support & Office Administration
-
Provide executive-level administrative support to company leadership
-
Coordinate corporate accounting activities with offsite vendors
-
Manage records for subsidiary entities and transmit documentation to CPA for annual tax filings
-
Oversee subsidiary entities and support investor relations
-
Manage office operations, including supplies, software, subscriptions, and IT equipment
-
Coordinate company vehicle licensing, registration, and insurance
Qualifications:
-
7+ years of HR management experience in a small to mid-sized organization
-
Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
-
Experience supervising staff and supporting senior leadership
-
Proficiency with payroll processing and HR systems
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel)

Technologically adept with a focus on process improvement

Basic bookkeeping knowledge; familiarity with accounting practices preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion and professionalism

Proven ability to handle highly sensitive information with strict confidentiality
