Job Title: Lead Service Technician (HVAC)

Job Summary

The Lead Service Technician is responsible for overseeing field service operations related to HVAC preventive maintenance, including air filter replacement, system cleaning, and routine inspections. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality service, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. The Lead Service Technician acts as a technical expert and point of contact for technicians in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled HVAC preventive maintenance, including air filter changes, coil cleaning, and general system cleaning
  • Inspect HVAC units to identify maintenance needs, potential issues, and safety concerns
  • Lead, train, and support service technicians to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
  • Assign daily work orders and coordinate service routes as needed
  • Ensure all work meets company standards, manufacturer guidelines, and safety regulations
  • Communicate professionally with customers, explaining services performed and maintenance recommendations
  • Document completed work, service reports, and maintenance logs accurately
  • Assist in troubleshooting basic HVAC issues and escalate complex problems when necessary
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in proper working condition
  • Support management with quality control, technician performance feedback, and process improvements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred)
  • 3+ years of HVAC service or preventive maintenance experience
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and maintenance practices
  • Ability to read service schedules, maintenance checklists, and basic technical documentation
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, ladders)
