We have an excellent opportunity for a License Tax Preparer, you will play an important role in delivering a delightful experience that seeks to unlock tax advantages for our clients by leveraging your tax expertise and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You will prepare, sign and file tax returns for our clients, working with them to obtain source documents and understanding their individual tax situation. This is a regular, seasonal, virtual, client-facing role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, sign and electronically file tax returns for our clients, including the following:
  • Interview client using prescribed forms.
  • Follow through via tools to communicate and send document requests.
  • Follow through via tools to set up the client in the appropriate folders.
  • Follow through on preparing a complete and accurate return, including any follow-up for missing documents, answers, and required information.
  • Follow through in handing off to reviewer, review any notes received, and clear any open items.
  • Communicate via tools to the client the stage that the return preparation is in.
  • Review prepared tax return(s) with client.
  • Send and receive 8879, or state return equivalent, as required.
  • E-file the client's return.
  • Send the 8879, or state return equivalent, as required, to the reviewer to follow up on the acceptance/rejection and send out a final email.
  • Follow prescribed workflows.
  • Help clients understand, in everyday language, how tax rules apply to their specific filing situation and where to obtain source documents, as needed for both federal and state tax returns.
  • Apply defined practices, procedures, and company policies to troubleshoot and resolve preparation clients inquiries.
  • Use discretion and professional judgment to understand which topics may be beyond the Tax Preparer knowledge and/or out of scope for the product offering.

Education and Experience:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience preparing multiple federal individual income tax returns for other taxpayers.
  • Strong tax preparation experience and extensive knowledge of tax laws.
  • Must have active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain any related State licenses, certificates, permits, or bonds.
  • Must be proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations software as well as have experience with online tax software.
  • Experience conducting tax research leveraging trustworthy sources.
  • Strong customer service skills – ability to interact with clients through video and audio tools in a way that is professional, friendly, and reassuring.
  • Must have (or be willing to obtain) a private wifi internet connection.
  • Experience with Drake software user is a plus.
