Cylindrical/Surface Grinding Machinist | Direct Hire, Full-Time

Location: Berlin, CT

Pay rate: $50,000-75,000/year

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and adjust cylindrical and surface grinding machines to grind parts to tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
• Select and dress grinding wheels as appropriate for material and finish
• Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify conformity
• Perform in‑process and final inspections, ensuring parts meet quality standards
• Maintain machines, perform routine maintenance and housekeeping
• Document inspection results and production data accurately
• Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
• Collaborate with quality and production teams to resolve issues

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of grinding experience (cylindrical and/or surface)
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
• Ability to dress a wheel
• Ability to interpret prints
• Ability to use measuring equipment to inspect own parts
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed
