FPI Technician

Located in Coventry, CT

Salary: $20-30/hr

FPI Technician | Direct Hire, Full-Time

Location: Coventry/Andover, CT area

Pay rate: $20-30/hr

Schedule:

• 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm
• 2nd shift, Monday - Friday, 3:25 pm to 1:45 am (must be able to train on 1st shift)

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform fluorescent penetrant inspections (FPI) in accordance with written procedures and specifications
• Prepare parts for inspection, including cleaning, application of penetrant, emulsifier, developer, and post-cleaning
• Interpret and evaluate indications to determine acceptability per engineering and customer specifications
• Document inspection results and complete inspection reports and certifications
• Ensure compliance with ASTM, AMS, NAS, and customer NDT requirements
• Maintain FPI equipment, chemicals, and inspection areas per safety and quality standards
• Identify and properly disposition nonconforming material
• Support audits and maintain traceability and documentation accuracy
• Follow all safety, environmental, and company procedures
• Work closely with quality, engineering, and production teams

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Level II FPI certification (per NAS 410 or equivalent)
• 2+ years of FPI / NDT experience, preferably in aerospace
• Knowledge of ASTM E1417, AMS 2644, and related standards
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Ability to work independently and follow written procedures
• Willingness to work assigned shift and overtime as needed
• Level III certification or experience under Level III supervision
• Experience inspecting aerospace castings, forgings, or machined parts
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
• Experience with additional NDT methods (MT, UT, RT, ET)
• Ability to support customer and regulatory audits
