Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring Industrial Maintenance Technicians for a client in West Baton Rouge Parish. The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all equipment within our fabrication facility. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting production needs. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with experience working on motors, bearings, belts, electrical components, and industrial machinery common to fabrication environments.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Repair & Maintenance

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain fabrication equipment, including saws, cutting machines, pipe-cover equipment, dust collection systems, and related machinery.
• Service motors, drives, bearings, belts, shafts, and mechanical assemblies.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, switches, breakers, and control panels.
• Respond to emergency repair needs to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.

Preventative Maintenance

• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, inspection, and component replacement.
• Maintain accurate PM logs and ensure timely completion of all maintenance intervals.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions to prevent future failures.

Installations & Upgrades

• Install new equipment, components, and attachments as required.
• Assist with machinery relocation, alignment, and leveling.
• Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and site-specific safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
• Verify equipment safety before returning machinery to service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.

Documentation & Communication

• Record all repairs, parts used, and time spent in maintenance logs.
• Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and recommendations to leadership and shop personnel.
• Contribute to the development of maintenance procedures and equipment checklists.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience as an industrial mechanic or maintenance technician (fabrication or manufacturing preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in motors, bearings, pulleys, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues (120V/240V/480V).
• Skilled in replacing belts, wiring components, switches, breakers, and other common parts.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and equipment diagrams.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures and OSHA safety standards.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a fabrication or industrial warehouse environment.
• Welding or basic fabrication skills (a plus, but not required).
• Certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or related fields.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in standing, bending, kneeling, or elevated positions.
• Comfortable working around loud equipment, dust, and fabrication processes.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime or respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
