Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring all prestressed concrete products manufactured at the company meet company standards, project specifications, and applicable state DOT, PCI, ASTM, and ACI requirements. This role performs inspections, testing, documentation, and reporting throughout the production process to ensure product quality, safety, and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform daily quality control inspections of prestressed concrete products, raw materials, and production processes
Conduct material testing including, but not limited to:
- Concrete slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight
- Compressive strength testing (cylinders/beams)
- Aggregate moisture and gradation checks
- Verify proper placement of reinforcement, strand patterns, embeds, and hardware per shop drawings
- Inspect form setup, concrete placement, consolidation, finishing, curing, and detensioning operations
- Monitor prestressing operations including strand tensioning, elongation measurements, and release procedures
- Ensure compliance with PCI, ASTM, ACI, and applicable DOT specifications
- Accurately complete and maintain quality control records, test reports, and certifications
- Identify non-conforming products or processes and report findings to management
- Assist with corrective actions and root cause analysis when quality issues arise
- Participate in internal and external audits (DOT, PCI, customer inspections)
- Maintain calibration records for testing equipment
- Promote and follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or construction-related education preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in concrete, prestressed concrete, or construction materials testing preferred
- Knowledge of prestressed concrete manufacturing processes a plus
- Familiarity with ASTM, ACI, and DOT specifications preferred
- PCI Level I or II Certification (or ability to obtain) preferred
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification preferred (or ability to obtain)

- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods
Work Environment
- Prestressed concrete manufacturing plant
- Exposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment, and wet conditions
- Use of required PPE at all times
