Equipment Maintenance & Repair Technician

Position Overview

We're seeking a skilled Equipment Maintenance & Repair Technician to evaluate, repair, and maintain multi-ton lifting and moving equipment. This position combines hands-on technical work with inventory management and customer interaction, requiring someone who can work independently while maintaining meticulous documentation. You'll perform repairs both in our facility and at customer sites throughout Ohio and surrounding states, developing comprehensive product knowledge and serving as a technical resource for our team.

Primary Responsibilities

Technical & Repair Work: You'll evaluate equipment condition to determine damage extent, repair requirements, and warranty coverage. You'll perform mechanical and electrical repairs both in-house and at customer facilities, reading and interpreting electrical schematics to complete basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Your work includes reading blueprints, technical schematics, and CAD files to understand equipment specifications and repair procedures.

Coordination & Documentation: You'll maintain detailed repair schedules and thorough documentation of all service work, coordinate with external fabrication partners on custom repair projects and specialized components, and manage tool inventory while maintaining organized shop storage systems. You'll work closely with sales staff, customer service representatives, and warehouse personnel to ensure seamless equipment service and support.

Field Service: You'll operate a company vehicle to provide on-site service and repair work throughout Ohio and surrounding states. Occasional extended travel may be required for more distant customer locations or complex projects.

Communication & Systems: You'll communicate effectively through email, Microsoft Teams, and internal tracking systems and databases, ensuring all stakeholders remain informed of equipment status and project progress.

Required Qualifications

Technical Experience:

  • Proven experience in mechanical, machine, equipment, or electrical maintenance and repair
  • Background in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments
  • Proficiency reading blueprints and electrical schematics; CAD experience beneficial
  • Experience with inventory management and quality control processes
  • Accurate measurement skills and competent use of various hand and power tools
