We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Billing and Claims Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the dental billing and insurance claims process to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations for our practice. This role requires expertise in dental codes, insurance verification, and effective communication with both insurance carriers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Claim Submission: Prepare, audit, and submit dental insurance claims (both electronic and paper) to various payers in a timely manner. Ensure all necessary documentation and attachments (e.g., radiographs, narratives, perio charts) are included for claim processing.
• Verification of Benefits: Verify patient dental insurance eligibility, benefits, limitations, frequencies, and covered procedures prior to appointments. Accurately enter this information into the practice management software.
• Accounts Receivable (A/R) Management: Monitor aging reports for outstanding insurance claims and patient balances. Follow up on unpaid claims through insurance portals, phone calls, and written correspondence.
• Denial Management & Appeals: Investigate rejected or denied claims, determine the reason for denial (e.g., missing information, non-covered service), correct errors, and submit appeals promptly.
• Payment Posting: Accurately post insurance reimbursements (Explanation of Benefits - EOBs) and patient payments into the billing system. Reconcile daily deposits and transactions.
• Patient Communication: Serve as a point of contact for patient billing inquiries, explaining insurance coverage, EOBs, and resolving account discrepancies with professionalism and clarity.
• Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and stay current with dental billing codes (CDT, ICD-10) and insurance company guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience in dental office administration, billing, or claims processing role is preferred.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of dental terminology, procedures, CDT codes, and common dental insurance plans (PPO, HMO, Fee-for-Service, etc.).
• Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with dental practice management software (e.g., EndoVision, Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, curve) and electronic claims submission platforms.
• Skills:
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and claim submission.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with patients and insurance carriers.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to investigate and resolve complex billing issues and claim denials.
