Role Summary
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor leads and coaches a production team to achieve daily production targets, uphold quality standards and support operational excellence. This role ensures production sequences run smoothly across machining (saws, edgebanders, CNC) and assembly operations while fostering safety, Lean practices, 5S and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan daily work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to hit targets.
- Lead, motivate, coach and develop production team members.
- Provide hands‑on direction for machine programming, tooling, material handling and assembly operations.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to maintain flow and quality.
- Monitor productivity, workforce efficiency and manage overtime.
- Prepare timely production performance reports.
- Hold team accountable to health and safety standards and participate in OHSA/WSIB compliance.
- Support root‑cause analysis with Quality teams and implement corrective actions.
- Drive cross‑training and skills growth across roles.
- Participate in hiring and onboarding of new team members.
- Implement 5S and Lean initiatives across the department.
Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma required; college diploma or Supervisory Certificate an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on experience with CNC, saws, edge banders and assembly processes.
- Manufacturing leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing, 5S and ERP/MRP scheduling.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; ERP/Database exposure is a plus.
- Strong understanding of both metric and imperial measurements.
- First Aid and/or Joint Health and Safety certification is an asset.
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
