Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Scrap Purchasing Agent to manage the purchasing of scrap materials. This role involves working directly with vendors, evaluating and grading materials, handling cash transactions, and ensuring accurate documentation while supporting company inventory and production needs.

Responsibilities:

• Purchase scrap materials in accordance with company guidelines and market conditions

• Identify, evaluate, and grade different types of metals (ferrous and non-ferrous)

• Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly

• Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams

• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers as needed

• Maintain accurate purchasing, cash, and inventory records

• Track inventory levels and coordinate material deliveries

• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulations

• Monitor market trends and report changes affecting scrap pricing

Qualifications:

• Previous purchasing, procurement, or scrap industry experience preferred

• Knowledge of different metals and scrap grades required

• Experience with cash handling and basic accounting procedures

• Strong negotiation, communication, and customer service skills

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

Requirements:

• Ability to work in an industrial or outdoor environment

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs as needed

• Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, inventory systems)

• Must pass a background check and drug screening

• Valid driver’s license preferred
