Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Biller and Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, submitting insurance claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Medical Coding:
Review patient charts and clinical documentation to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal regulations, payer guidelines, and organizational policies.
Identify and correct coding errors to prevent claim denials.
Medical Billing:
Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims to commercial insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims in a timely manner.
Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts receivable.
Insurance & Authorization Management:
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits.
Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as required for billing purposes.
Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim issues and reimbursement questions.
Administrative Support:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records in the electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems.
Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance claims, and payment arrangements.
Collaborate with providers and office staff to resolve documentation or coding discrepancies.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality standards.
Stay current with changes in coding regulations, payer requirements, and billing practices.
Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and training sessions as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in medical billing and coding preferred.
Certification as a Medical Biller and Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred.
Previous experience in medical billing and coding or a healthcare administrative role.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive computer-based tasks.
