Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled Jewelry Sales & Repair Specialist to support a local company’s retail and pawn operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of gemstones, precious metals, jewelry construction, and repair techniques. This role involves conducting accurate appraisals, performing high-quality repairs, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Specialist will assist customers with buying, selling, trading, and maintaining their jewelry while ensuring all transactions meet company, industry, and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet customers warmly, assess needs, and recommend appropriate merchandise or services.

  • Educate customers on jewelry care, maintenance, and long-term value.

  • Build lasting customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Evaluation & Purchasing

  • Evaluate and appraise jewelry to determine quality, authenticity, and value.

  • Test and verify gemstones and precious metals using professional equipment.

  • Provide accurate pricing for loans, buys, and trades in accordance with company guidelines.

Repair & Maintenance

  • Perform professional jewelry repairs, adjustments, and sizing (ring sizing, chain repair, stone setting, clasp replacement, polishing, etc.).

  • Maintain detailed records of all repair work, special orders, and custom projects.

  • Ensure all completed work meets the highest craftsmanship standards.

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Price, tag, and display merchandise for maximum appeal.

  • Monitor and replenish inventory, ensuring secure storage of high-value items.

  • Maintain an organized and secure sales floor and repair workspace.

Compliance & Security

  • Adhere to industry regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.

  • Follow proper documentation procedures for all jewelry-related transactions.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; formal training in gemology, jewelry repair, or metalsmithing preferred.

  • Previous experience in jewelry sales, repair, or appraisal required.

  • Strong knowledge of gemstones, precious metals, and jewelry construction.

  • Proficiency with jewelry repair tools and techniques.

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and sales abilities.

  • Ability to accurately appraise and price jewelry for retail and pawn operations.

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail/pawn environment.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing precision work.

  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.


Work Environment

  • Retail/pawn shop environment with variable noise and lighting.

  • May require evening and weekend shifts.
