Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist – $18–$20/hr

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

A well-established nonprofit organization in Western North Carolina is seeking a Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist to support their finance and clinical teams. This role is a key part of the revenue cycle, ensuring claims are billed accurately, payments are posted correctly, and accounts are followed through to resolution.

What You’ll Be Doing

Submit, track, and follow up on behavioral health insurance claims
Post payments, deposits, and adjustments accurately and on time
Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
Review aging reports and resolve claims over 45 days past due
Reconcile assigned accounts and assist with financial reporting
Work closely with clinical staff, authorizations, and finance leadership
Support audits and assist with additional billing or accounting tasks as needed

What You Need to Succeed

Experience with medical billing and accounts receivable
Working knowledge of insurance claims and reimbursement processes
Familiarity with CPT and diagnostic coding (ICD experience a plus)
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
Comfortable using billing systems and Microsoft Excel
Ability to communicate professionally and work collaboratively
Experience in a nonprofit or behavioral health setting is a plus, not required
