Public Works Technician I

Located in Kenneth City, FL

Salary: $16-$22 p/hr DOE

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

Dress Code: Steel tip boots, not rips or tears in clothing, no vulgar words on shirts

Skills:              Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

•           Basic understanding of landscaping and maintenance techniques

•           Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

•           Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks

•           Good communication and time management skills

Responsibilities:            

                         Perform routine grounds maintenance: mowing, trimming, planting, irrigation

•             Assist with street cleaning, signage installation, and minor repairs

•             Operate basic equipment (mowers, blowers, hand tools)

•             Load/unload materials and supplies

•             Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE

•             Support stormwater system upkeep (debris removal, inspections)

•             Report hazards, damage, or violations to supervisor

•             Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, tools, and work areas

•             Participate in emergency response activities as needed

 

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience:  

Valid Florida Driver’s License

•           Ability to obtain MOT and OSHA 10 certifications within 6 months

•           Prior experience in landscaping, construction, or maintenance preferred

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

•           Essential Employee: Yes — required to work during emergency operations, including     severe weather events and natural disasters

Language Skills: Ability to understand, speak, and read English clearly.
