Job Description

The Warehouse Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the warehouse. This includes cleaning floors, walls, restrooms, storage areas, and other equipment to meet health and safety standards. The role supports warehouse operations by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment for employees and inventory.

 

Essential Role Functions

 

1. Cleaning & Sanitizing:

· Sweep, mop, and scrub floors to remove dirt, debris, and spills.

· Clean walls, ceilings, and shelves to maintain a sanitary warehouse environment.

· Disinfect surfaces such as countertops, door handles, and restrooms regularly.

· Empty trash and recycling bins, properly disposing of waste materials.

 

2. Equipment Cleaning:

 

· Clean and sanitize equipment, machinery, and tools used in the warehouse (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts).

· Ensure all cleaning products and tools are in good working condition.

 

3. Waste Management:

 

· Sort and dispose of waste in compliance with safety and environmental standards.

· Maintain proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals.

 

4. Inventory Maintenance:

 

· Ensure cleanliness around inventory storage areas to prevent contamination.

· Assist in organizing and maintaining warehouse cleanliness to avoid clutter or obstacles.

 

5. Compliance and Safety:

 

· Adhere to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and other regulatory guidelines regarding sanitation.

· Report any safety hazards or issues immediately to supervisors.

· Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, including cleaning products.

 

6. Regular Inspections:

 

· Perform regular checks of cleaning areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.

· Communicate any areas requiring extra attention to supervisors.

7. Team Collaboration:

· Work closely with warehouse staff to minimize disruptions during cleaning processes.

· Assist in other warehouse duties as required.

 

Work Experience/Requirements for This Role

· High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required)

· Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more).

· Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols.

· Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment.

· Time Management: Ability to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

· Safety Awareness: Familiarity with safety standards for lifting and equipment operation
