We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Hand/Finish Carpenter to join our construction team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and execute the finishing phases of residential projects, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in various carpentry disciplines, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. This position offers an opportunity to lead projects from framing through final finishes, contributing to the successful completion of complex construction endeavors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate carpentry teams on-site, ensuring efficient workflow and quality control throughout all phases of construction
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute project specifications
- Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks including trim carpentry, door hanging, cabinet installation, siding, flooring installation, tile laying, and fixture installation
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for framing, finishing, concrete forming, metal stud framing, and other specialized tasks
- Manage construction site activities such as heavy lifting, scaffolding setup, rebar installation, plastering, stucco application, roofing work, and water damage restoration
- Conduct precise measurements and ensure proper alignment using schematics and technical guides
- Oversee the installation of various building components including doors, windows, cabinetry, fixtures, siding, and drywall
- Assist with construction estimating by providing accurate material takeoffs and labor assessments for project planning
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, suppliers, and clients to ensure project milestones are met on time and within scope
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in construction estimating and blueprint reading
- Proficiency in trim carpentry, frame carpentry, metal stud framing, drywall finishing, and cabinetry installation
- Skilled in the use of hand tools (e.g., saws, chisels) and power tools (e.g., drills, saws) for diverse carpentry applications
- Knowledge of restoration industry practices such as mold remediation and water damage restoration
- Familiarity with construction safety protocols and heavy lifting techniques
- Experience working on construction sites with diverse teams; excellent communication skills are essential
- Capable of performing physical tasks involving heavy lifting while maintaining attention to detail
Knowledge of building codes relevant to siding installation, fixture mounting, door hanging; ability to adapt to various project requirements.
