A local housing/property organization is seeking a hardworking and skilled Maintenance Laborer / Make-Ready Technician to assist with preparing vacant units, performing light maintenance, and supporting the maintenance department with daily operational needs. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on mechanical skills, janitorial experience, and a strong work ethic.
Assist maintenance mechanics and maintenance aides in preparing vacant dwelling units
Clean appliances, restrooms, floors, and overall unit interiors
Perform minor plumbing fixes, patch holes in walls, prep interiors for painting, and paint as needed
Remove trash and debris from yards, dumpsters, and property grounds
Wax floors and complete deep cleaning tasks for turnover units
Clean housing management offices and assist with moving/arranging furniture
Set up rooms for special meetings, events, or community functions
Make light repairs in vacant units, including changing light fixtures
Transport household appliances for repair and conduct inventory on maintenance equipment
Assist with disposal of trash, discarded items, and bulk materials
Periodically check smoke alarms in dwelling units and office buildings
Help unload trash trailers, shipments of appliances, and other supplies
Assist with basic carpentry tasks and perform oil changes on maintenance equipment
Previous experience in general labor, janitorial, or maintenance support roles
Ability to use basic hand tools and perform minor repairs
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various environments
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work
Dependable and able to follow detailed instructions
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Must pass background check and drug screen (client specific)
Has apartment/housing maintenance or make-ready experience
Enjoys hands-on work and helping prepare units for new residents
Can work independently or as part of a maintenance team
Is safety-conscious with a positive attitude
