Trim Carpenter

Position Overview

A Trim Carpenter specializes in the installation and finishing of interior and exterior trim components to elevate the aesthetic and functional quality of residential and commercial structures. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and strong attention to detail to deliver clean, professional finishes that reflect high construction standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install interior and exterior trim components including baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting, window/door casings, cabinetry trim, stair components, and custom millwork.

  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, composite materials, and trim products using hand tools and power tools.

  • Read, interpret, and execute detailed blueprints, sketches, and project specifications.

  • Ensure all installed trim is plumb, level, tight-fitting, and finished to professional quality standards.

  • Repair or replace damaged trim, molding, or millwork.

  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to maintain workflow and meet project deadlines.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to OSHA and jobsite safety protocols.

  • Perform final sanding, fitting, and minor finishing as required to prepare surfaces for paint or stain.


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in finish or trim carpentry (apprenticeship or equivalent experience may be considered).

  • Proficient with carpentry tools: miter saws, routers, planers, nail guns, chisels, and levels.

  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, joinery, and finish standards.

  • Ability to read blueprints, scale drawings, and job specifications.

  • High attention to detail — capable of delivering clean lines, tight joints, and high-end finishes.

  • Strong problem-solving and math/measuring skills.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with custom millwork installation.

  • Cabinet installation experience.

  • Familiarity with hardwoods, composite trim products, and architectural moldings.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Work Environment

  • Job sites may include residential remodels, new construction, commercial spaces, and custom build projects.

  • Work often requires kneeling, climbing ladders, tight spaces, and repetitive measuring/cutting.
