Job Title: Resident Advisor

Schedule: 

• RA #1 Day Shift - Sat 7:30am-4pm, Overnight Sun 3:30pm-8:00am (Mon), Overnight Thurs 3:30pm-8:00am (Fri)
• RA # 2 Day Shift - Sun 7:30am-4pm, Overnight Mon 3:30pm-8:00am (Tues), Overnight Fri 3:30pm-8:00am (Sat)

Pay Range: $27 - 31 per hour

Description: 

• Provides overnight staff coverage for clients while in residence on the campuses. The Resident Advisor assists clients with general dog care and handles routine matters that arise outside of guide work. Provides mentoring to clients on issues affecting their relationship with their guide.  Out of the ordinary or complex matters or concerns are referred to the appropriate instructor/supervisor staff.

• The RA manages critical situations requiring immediate intervention, including acting in response to dog and client medical emergencies after hours, reporting noteworthy incidents to instructors, supervisor, vet, and nursing staff.

• The RA is present and supports clients through the guide dog training process as needed. Refers substantial matters or concerns to the appropriate instructor/supervisor staff.

• Inputs data in Salesforce, helps to maintain written manuals, policies, procedures, attends to all animal related cleaning, disinfecting, biosecurity needs for the residential building.   

Requirements: 

• Any kind of counseling experience or experience working with people who are visually impaired is preferred but not required. Same with dog experience. 

• Having someone who would be willing to drive if needed would be great but not required.  

• We are looking for someone who can think on their feet, is kind and is willing to learn about blindness etiquette, our programs, is a team player and happy to learn about dogs.
