Primary Function of the Job:

The Working Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and participating in the daily production of sheet metal HVAC ductwork. This role ensures efficient operations on the shop floor by managing workflow, supporting a team of fabricators, maintaining quality and safety standards, and actively participating in fabrication tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead by example and assist in the fabrication, assembly of sheet metal ductwork, including square, round, and specialty fittings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to guide ductwork fabrication processes.
• Organize and delegate tasks to team members to ensure daily production targets and deadlines are met.
• Ensure proper use of equipment.
• Monitor product quality and ensure standards, customer specifications, and shop standards are met.
• Train and support team members on proper fabrication techniques, safety procedures, and efficient workflow practices.
• Act as a liaison between workers and supervisors/management to communicate production issues or safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, enforcing all PPE and safety requirements.
• Assist with inventory control, material staging, and work order tracking.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying workflow inefficiencies and suggesting process enhancements.

Requirements:

• Must have leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Capable of standing, bending, twisting, and performing physical work throughout the shift.
• Comfortable working in noisy, warm, and fast-paced environments.
• Must be able to handle large sheets of metal and work with ducting components.

Tools, Equipment, and Materials Used:

• Sheet metal fabrication machines (press brake, shear, plasma cutter, gorlock, etc.)
• Hand and power tools (snips, drills, rivet guns, etc.)
• Forklift and hoist/lift systems
• Measurement tools (tape measure, square, calipers)
