Buyer/ Planner in Red Wing

Express is seeking a Buyer/Planner for a trusted provider of high-quality wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electro-mechanical solutions for customers across a variety of industries. Position Summary
The Buyer Planner is responsible for procuring production materials, managing inventory levels, and coordinating planning activities to ensure timely delivery of products. This role collaborates closely with production, engineering, and supplier partners to balance cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
•     Source, evaluate, and purchase raw materials, components, and services
•     Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements
•     Track supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality concerns
•     Process purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing documentation
Planning & Production Support
•     Develop and manage material planning schedules aligned with production demand
•     Review ERP/MRP signals and adjust plans based on changes in forecasts, sales orders, or production capacity
•     Coordinate with production and engineering teams to ensure material availability for builds
•     Monitor work order progress and adjust priorities as required
Inventory Management
•     Maintain appropriate inventory levels while reducing excess and obsolescence
•     Conduct inventory analysis and support cycle count activities
•     Identify and implement improvements in material flow, stocking strategies, and lead-time reduction
Data & Process Management
•     Maintain accurate item master data, lead times, and planning parameters
•     Prepare and distribute purchasing and inventory reports
•     Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing, planning, and supply chain processes

Qualifications
Required:
•     Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field; or equivalent experience
•     2+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain roles (manufacturing environment preferred)
•     Solid understanding of MRP/ERP systems
•     Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
•     Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Preferred:
•     Experience in wire harness or electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing
•     APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) a plus
•     Background in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement

Pay

• $24-$28/hr
• Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:00am-2:30pm Friday 6:00am-10:00am
