Position Summary:The ideal candidate will be meticulous, possess a strong understanding of current federal and state tax laws, and be adept at communicating complex issues clearly to clients. This role requires hands-on experience with both individual and business tax returns, as well as the ability to work independently while collaborating with team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation: Prepare and review a variety of complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals (Form 1040) and business entities (Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065).
Compliance & Research: Stay current on new tax legislation, code changes, and reporting requirements. Conduct thorough tax research as needed.
Client Service: Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary documentation, resolve open issues, and explain technical tax matters in clear, non-technical language.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of recent, hands-on experience preparing complex individual and business tax returns in a public accounting setting.
Credentials: Current IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA certification.
Software Proficiency: Expert proficiency with professional tax preparation software such as Lacerte and experience with QuickBooks.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of partnership (K-1) and S-corporation basis calculations, and complex itemized deductions.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to non-tax professionals.
