High-tech manufacturing industry looking for skilled machinist

 

Job Summary:

This role combines skilled manual machining with quality assurance responsibilities to support precision manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will set up and operate manual machines, perform in-process and final inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Sheet metal fabrication experience is a strong plus. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration across departments to ensure product quality and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Machining:

·        Read and interpret blueprints, production drawings, and work orders for accurate machine setup and operation.

·        Set up and operate manual machines, including fixtures, tools, and accessories.

·        Perform secondary operations such as tumbling and assembly as required.

·        Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges) to verify part dimensions.

·        Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes.

·        Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area following 5S principles.

 

Quality:

·        Conduct first article and in-process inspections on machined parts.

·        Set up and operate inspection equipment, including CMM and vision systems (e.g., Keyence).

·        Interpret and apply GD&T standards to ensure compliance with specifications.

·        Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.

·        Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conforming products..

·        Willingness to cross-train and work in multiple areas to support production needs.

Qualifications:

·        Proficiency in precision measurement tools and CMM operation.

·        Strong understanding of GD&T principles.

·        Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

·        Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

 

Educations & Experience:

·        High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.

·        Minimum 5 years of experience in manual machining and/or sheet metal fabrication.

·        2+ years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.
