Study Manager – Mining (PEA/PFS/FS)

Location: Toronto, ON or Montreal, QC

 

A leading global engineering and project delivery organization—recognized for nearly four decades of excellence in mining, minerals, and metals—seeks a Senior Study Manager to join its high-performing North American team. With operations spanning every major mining center worldwide, this organization partners with top-tier mining clients to deliver innovative, technically sound solutions across commodities such as lithium, gold, copper, and other base and precious metals.

 

We are looking for a proven mining executive with deep technical and commercial discipline—someone who knows how to steer complex studies, guide multidisciplinary teams, and influence strategic decisions at the highest levels.

The Opportunity

As Study Manager, you will take full ownership of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, ensuring all scope, deliverables, budgets, and timelines meet the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. You will serve as the primary point of accountability—driving technical excellence, mitigating project risks, and ensuring economically robust, client-aligned outcomes.

 

You will also play a critical role in business-case development, NI 43-101 reporting, change control oversight, and cultivating strong client relationships at executive and board levels.

What You Will Lead

• Full management of PEA, PFS, and FS studies, including consolidation of NI 43-101 reports using industry best practices.
• Development of robust economic-technical solutions aligned with client requirements and strategic objectives.
• Scenario evaluation with client leadership to support sound investment and development decisions.
• Coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure cohesive, high-quality outputs.
• Oversight of study scope, change management, risk mitigation, cost controls, and schedule performance.
• Leadership of the study execution plan from inception through close-out, including lessons learned, team performance, and continual improvement.
• Commercial accountability to ensure profitable delivery aligned with tender expectations.
• Promotion of a positive, high-performance culture across diverse study teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in EPCM, mining construction, or mining operations.
• Minimum 5 years as a Study Manager leading large-scale mining studies (>$300M project value).
• Strong understanding of project development phases (PEA, PFS, FS) and hands-on experience delivering each.
• Expertise in project planning, execution methodologies, risk management, change control, and cost governance.
• Demonstrated ability to craft innovative approaches and improve study execution processes.
• Strong leadership presence, communication skills, and experience presenting at the executive and board level.
