Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is hiring an experienced Skilled Welder for a leading manufacturing and fabrication facility. This is a full-time opportunity for welders who have strong technical ability, attention to detail, and pride in producing high-quality work.

We are looking for true welding professionals who can weld independently and explain their welding process in depth (settings, techniques, materials, troubleshooting, and safety). The ideal candidate is confident working from blueprints, maintaining tight tolerances, and using precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

As a Skilled Welder, your daily duties will include:

Performing MIG and TIG welding on metal components, frames, or assemblies.
Using Stick welding when required (preferred).
Operating or assisting with robotic welding systems (a strong plus).
Reading and interpreting blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
Measuring and verifying parts using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure fit and tolerance.
Setting up machines, selecting wire/rod type, gas mix, polarity, amperage/voltage, and travel speed based on material.
Preparing materials through cutting, grinding, beveling, cleaning, and positioning.
Ensuring welds meet quality standards for penetration, consistency, and appearance.
Performing visual and dimensional inspections to confirm weld strength and accuracy.
Troubleshooting weld defects (porosity, undercut, warping, burn-through, lack of fusion, etc.).
Maintaining a clean and safe work area while following all welding safety protocols and PPE requirements.

Requirements

Proven hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding (required).
Ability to clearly explain welding techniques, machine settings, and process control during interview.
Experience with Stick welding and/or robotic welding (preferred).
Strong blueprint reading skills including weld symbols.
Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Knowledge of different metals, thicknesses, and welding methods for each.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical fabrication work.
Reliable attendance and strong employment tenure (verification required).
Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and quality-driven.

Skills & Qualifications

Advanced MIG/TIG welding proficiency.
Knowledge of weld pass technique, heat control, and distortion prevention.
Ability to maintain structural integrity and cosmetic quality.
Familiarity with fabrication tools (grinders, saws, clamps, fixtures).
Strong problem-solving and self-checking habits.
Experience in manufacturing/fabrication environments.

Shifts & Hours

Full-time schedule
1st and/or 2nd shift openings depending on client needs
Overtime may be available based on workload
