Job Summary:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scrap Metal Purchasing Agent to join our team. This role involves sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous metals while building strong relationships with suppliers and customers. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to make pricing decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and grade incoming scrap metal according to company and industry standards
Ensure accurate documentation for all purchases, weights, and materials
Work closely with yard personnel to verify materials and maintain quality control
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
Provide excellent customer service during all interactions
Qualifications:
Experience in scrap metal, recycling, or purchasing preferred
Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metal types is required
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Basic computer skills for data entry and pricing updates
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs
Reliable transportation and strong attendance
