Job Summary:

A leading waste management service company in North York is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial transactions, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support overall financial operations. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures, including financial reporting.
• Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
• Prepare HST filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Work closely with external auditors during audits.
• Assist in payroll processing and ensure compliance with labor regulations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a service-based industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP) and MS Excel.
• Knowledge: Understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting principles.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
