The Builder / Assembly Worker at CD Controls is responsible for assembling electrical control panels, switchgear, and related components according to detailed engineering drawings and specifications. This role supports the production team in building high-quality, custom power and automation systems for commercial clients.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
Assemble control panels, enclosures, switchgear, and related hardware.
Mount components (relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, transformers, etc.) onto backplates or panel surfaces.
Wire internal panel components using hand tools (screwdrivers, crimpers, wire strippers, etc.) and cable management.
Install cable harnesses, terminal blocks, and conduit as specified.
Perform initial electrical checks and continuity testing on assembled units.
Perform mechanical assembly tasks such as attaching doors, hinges, knockouts, and latches.
Assist with final inspection, quality control, and packaging of completed units.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve assembly issues.
Help with inventory management of assembly components, hardware, and consumables.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline assembly processes.
Previous experience in electrical panel assembly, electronics manufacturing, or a similar production environment is preferred.
Basic knowledge of electrical components, wiring, and control systems.
Ability to work from technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
Proficient with hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, crimping tools).
Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Ability to perform basic electrical testing (multimeter experience a plus).
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
Indoor, manufacturing shop environment.
Regular use of hand and power tools, small assembly hardware, wiring, and electrical components.
Must follow strict safety procedures.
May require overtime or flexible hours to meet production deadlines.
